About
DONANDSHERRI is the online portfolio containing all the works that comprise the '24 Hour Folio' - A folio that aims to explore all the different audio textures and compositions that are reflective of the locale I endeavoured to explore. The specific locale is the Atherton Gardens Commission Homes - Helping Hoops Basketball Program.
Every piece you hear is composed from audio that was recorded over the period of one Monday Afternoon at the Commission Homes and features sounds from the children that participate in the program, coaches that run the program, volunteers, and numerous other sound bites that made up the whole journey.
The main objective of the '24 Hour Folio' is to create visuals through audibles - To paint a vivid image in the mind of the listener through the use of sound rich sketches that both fully engage and fully immerse the listener with the 'world' they are currently hearing.
Bounce - This is a conceptual creative non-fiction piece that explores the locale of a basketball court in the Atherton Gardens Housing Project and aims to deliver the listener into that world. Using a mixture of editing techniques, the piece augments recorded sounds to give off a spatial feeling.
Double Dribble - Playing on the dichotomy of the human mind and its ability to easily augment itself into a state where it has two opposing forces governing it: Double Dribble aims to explore the fragility of the audio producers mind and the often manic internal struggles that pervades their process.
C.R.E.A.M - (Clouds Rule Everything Around Me) is a piece that aims to explore the conceptual and practical notions of Studio Production in short radio documentaries. The piece is comprised of both recorded sounds and royalty free sound piece that culminate to give the listener a full sense of interactivity with the lives of kids at the Atherton Garden Commission Home - Helping Hoops Basketball Program.
Full Circle - White. Privileged. Affluent. | Underprivileged youths in Melbournes Northern Suburbs face the very real problem of their lives eventuating to nothing more than a culmination of crime and social segregation. Helping Hoops Coach Omar Coles highlights the importance of active role models in the community and the necessity of basketball in the lives of the children in the Atherton Gardens Commission Homes.
